Happy Easter. We all say it...but why? This video is a great reminder of what those words actually mean.
This short video gives us an overview of the Bible and shows what Jesus said about it. "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and you shall love your neighbour as yourself."
When you've experienced God's love through miracles, provision, comfort and circumstance you know that it is a love beyond human comprehension. It is immeasurable, eternal and never absent. God is love and is the source of all love. Without Him we could not know it, understand it, feel it or see it in action. Nothing can separate us from His love except us and our attitudes; and even then it doesn't cease, we just don't experience it like we could if only we would embrace Him. He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to take our place for the punishment of our wrong doing.
Just as we receive wages or payment for the actions we do at work for our employer, so too shall we receive our just deserts or wages that we have earned through our behaviour and actions. We have all been warned that wrongdoing and sin leads to death and we have also been informed that our very nature is bent towards sinning. BUT our eternal loving Father wants to save us from this fate and so Jesus offered Himself as a substitute for us. He trades His righteousness for our sin and takes our punishment in our place if we will accept it.
Die for a lie? Unlikely. Each of the 12 apostles left families and careers, often traveling alone to distant countries, declaring that Jesus died and came back to life. For proclaiming Jesus' resurrection, they were beaten, imprisoned, and many killed in torturous ways. Did they have any basis for declaring this? Yes. It is undisputed that after the crucifixion of Jesus, the tomb was empty three days later, just as Jesus' predicted. The controversy focuses on what became of Jesus' body? Some say that Jesus' disciples stole his body and concocted a story that he rose from the dead.
The greatest promise of all depicted in John 3:16
Christian Hosoi, professional skateboarder, lived by the creed, "Skate and Destroy." While he found his calling in skating at an early age, he also found himself in a life of destruction. "I was trying to destroy myself because I was searching for love in money, fame and girls. None of it satisfied me."
Hosoi had fame. He had money. He had it all, but it was all taken. It took losing it all for Christian to realise that freedom wasn't in material possessions. It had nothing to do with cares of this world. He realised who and where freedom really was: in Christ.
We all need to know what love is and where we can find it. Those who have a relationship with the author of all love know what it looks like but many people in today's world have been led misled by what they see in movies, on TV, hear in songs or even witness within their own families. If you know someone who is in a new relationship, about to get married, going through a rough patch in their relationship or perhaps just needs to understand more clearly what God says real love looks like, then perhaps you could share this video with them.
